One afternoon my daughter asked me to make her a boat. I came to the idea that origami would be a quick and easy solution to this problem, so we sat down at the computer together and looked up some patterns. Before long the kitchen table was awash with a variety of craft and as my daughter played with the little boats and ships I started looking for other designs. I found a beautiful tulip which I decided to make for my wife. The flower could be inflated with one breath, and as I folded back the petals to complete it, the design seemed to come alive with simplicity, elegance and intelligence.
Slowly and contentedly...and with some degree of patient frustration, I am learning more about origami and the art of paper folding.
My daughter asked me to make her a boat.
